Gas Oven Upgrade

Gas Oven Upgrade

If you have ever grown accustomed to cooking on a gas stove top, you’ll probably that the benefits of quickly being able to adjust element temperatures is handy when trying not to burn that perfect breakfast quiche. If you do end up in a position where the home you’re living in has an electric stove, the transition back can be unpleasant. Thankfully, with help from a licensed plumber and electrician, most stove conversions are simple to do. More modern gas stoves are commonly a combination of gas and electric. While gas fuels the flames that are responsible for cooking your food, the ignitors that light those initial sparks are often electric. As are the clocks and other features we see on the face of the stove. It also isn’t unlikely to encounter a “duel fuel” stove with an electric element inside the oven for baking. With a stove like this, converting the electrical components to a gas or duel fuel stove is very simple. Because they use less electricity than the electrical stove being removed, modifying the existing electrical panel is likely possible to complete using existing electrical wire from the circuit breaker panel to the stove. The circuit breaker and volt receptacle will probably need to be entirely replaced, but these changes are not extensive. If they don’t already exist, running gas lines to your home will be your next step and will require a licensed plumber. They can install a service line connecting the street gas line to your home. Finally, you’ll need to run gas lines from the meter to your new stove. If your home already has a main gas line, you can jump right to this step.

And that’s all there is to it! Be on the lookout for other ways that natural gas stoves can benefit you. Depending on the laws of your local municipality, it’s not uncommon to find rebates of $500 to $3,500 toward the cost of conversion in addition to discounts on the cost of installing a gas line.

With gas ovens being more energy efficient and allowing for more precise cooking, its no wonder that the desire to switch from an electric to a gas range is becoming increasingly popular. Don’t hesitate to reach out to the talented plumbers and electricians at Repairman today to get you on the road to faster and better cooking! Just make sure to practice that quiche recipe a few time before hosting brunch to avoid disappointing grandma.
